MARJORIE ANN BENNETT
MARJORIE ANN BENNETT, affectionately known as “Star” and “Granny Star”, was born on March 18, 1947, in Richmond, Indiana, to Colston Red Washington and Cassie Mae Virginia Jones. Star departed this life on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
STAR attended Richmond Community Schools and graduated from Richmond High School in 1966. When she joined the workforce, she worked for several years in the service industry, and later she worked for the Indiana State Highway Department;
consequently, she retired from Richmond State Hospital after 20 years of service. STAR was full of life and zest, while bringing warmth and happiness to everyone. She especially loved her fur babies, Rocky and Lil Bit, shopping, and dancing at family
events. She cherished spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren while creating lasting memories. Star had a profound influence on many lives and truly was a beacon of light and a shining Star. One of her favorite expressions was, “I Just Want To Be Real”.
STAR loved her family and was deeply rooted in her faith. At an early age, Star accepted Jesus Christ and was a member of the Original Church of God. In her later years, she was an active member of New Beginnings of Life Ministries under the
pastoral leadership of Pastor Cassandra A. Brown. She was born again and baptized in Jesus’ name on April 18, 2021. She found strength in fellowshipping and praising God. Her beautiful voice blessed many as she enjoyed singing the gospel. One of her favorite hymns was “Walk with Me, Lord.”
STAR transitioned from this earthly life back into the hands of her Creator on Thursday, August 14, 2025, after being diagnosed with bladder cancer in May of that same year. She represented the third generation in her family to battle cancer. While the first and second generations were diagnosed with breast cancer, STAR’s diagnosis was bladder cancer.
She leaves to cherish her memories of four wonderful children: Tammorra L.M. (Cecil) Golder of Indianapolis, Indiana, Cassandra Ann Brown, Robert Lee Duane (Stephanie) Bennett, and Mark Douglas Bennett, all of Richmond, Indiana.
